The Biggest Mistake People Make When Making a Green Quilt – And How You Can Fix It!

15th May 2011

Whether you’re only starting or have been quilting for years , its always simple to make a screw up. Be it through inexperience, misjudgement or merely a simple slip up, mistakes can and do occur in the quilting world.

This is especially true when you’re working on a green quilt design. To help avoid making one of the most typical mistakes or to help you get out of one if you are in it. It does not sound like a big disaster, however it can spoil your quilt, and that mistake is :

Choosing the wrong shade of Green.

This is one of the most common mistakes to make – I should know, I have done it twice!

You start by getting this image in your head, maybe its a pleasant emerald green or pea soup green coloured quilt. You buy the material, map it out and kick it off..

Then somewhere in the middle, you detect that there are some things wrong with the colour “its too bright, rules the other colors or simply comes out dreary. Either way your green quilt is turning into a monster.

Do not despair – this is a straightforward problem to resolve “all you have got to do it introduce another colour. Many times you find a burgundy or a white color truly helps out.

If the quilt is too bright, I suggest adding a burgundy pattern or design to it, this will help darken the look of the quilt and bring some warmth to it.

If you find the green quilt color is not to your taste, look at stitching another pattern over the top and turn the unattractive green to a fascinating quilt border.

Basically what you are doing is adding another color and pattern to take away the negative feeling from the green quilt by adding a complimentary colour to switch the appearance.

So there you have it, what appears initially like a hopeless mistake can actually save your project and change it into a green quilt you will adore!
