at the very beginning, when she says to do two single crochets in the fourth stitch, does she mean only the fourth stitch, or every fourth stitch?

@roxsyee Yeah, the smaller your hook, the smaller your hat will be. But she’s using a really thick kind of yarn, so if you would use a normal yarn with a hook that big, you would get huge holes in your hat.

@roxsyee the bigger the hook, the bigger the holes tend to be, though it also depends on your own “tension” which is how loose/tight you make your stitches.

mine always comes oversized, i used a size i hook and it was massive, how did you use an n hook and make it small?

what’s the difference if i use a 5.0mm needle than the 10.5? : will my hat turn out smaller or something? haha i just started so i’m totally new to this

@MerGray88 no sweet heart, its a single crochet increase. I adds another stitch to the round. A double crochet is a stitch, like the single crochet, but bigger. It creates a more spacey fabric. Hope this helps! xox

question, if you do two single crochets in one stitch, isn’t that a double crochet? I’m new sorry.

@UnusualSuspect543 I had the same problem at first, then I made my stitches a little looser and it seemed to solve the problem =) By the way, using that size needle will make a really small hat….highly doubt you’d be able to wear it =S I did my first attempt on a 5mm needle…a cuddly toy now wears the hat aha!! xx
