Thanks so much for this video! I have been trying for years to get into crochet, but I could never make it past the first row. I managed to learn knitting, but couldn’t understand crochet until now.

@grandmabarb55 Hello – there is a closeup starting at 3:43 on precisely where to put your hook at the beginning of the 2nd row. You’ll skip the chain you just made, and put your hook in the very next stitch.

@aristri2 It’s very cool! If you look into the history of knitting and crocheting, you’ll find men found both very useful – from creating and/or mending their own fishing nets – to soldiers during previous wartimes who would make their own hats and socks.

This has helped me so much. Thank you. But I am having a problem at the turning point at the end of the chain. Can you please show where the hook should go in order to begin the next row. I am ok on the second row but after that I keep losing stitches. My rows get shorter and shorter!

This is great! This is the only video that has shown me a simple way to start a chain. My only problem is, when I go to make my second/third knot, my hook doesn’t seem to want to pull back through… why is this?

@pepsicola5678 Crochet can be difficult. Not sure if you have a Michaels or a Joann Fabrics or a Hobby Lobby or an AC Moore craft store around you, but if you do, they oftentimes have free demos or classes (usually $15 for 2 hours). Sometimes it helps to have someone show you a couple of things in person, then the videos make more sense.
