Many of you might be having an artistic approach towards life and would love to make use of this art during your leisure time. One way you could do this would be through a craft book, as you can gradually enhance your artistic talent through numerous ideas. Transferring patterns is also a craft work that requires your time and skills.

Necessary tools for pattern transfer

You need to have craft supplies, piece of material, transfer paper, craft tools, a transfer pencil, iron and ironing board.

How to do a pattern transfer

When working on a hard and sturdy surface, start by tracing your design with your transfer pencil. You should try to keep the pressure of your stroke even all the way around the design to ensure a good transfer because if it is too light you won’t be able to see the lines of the design when you begin the project. You are manually printing a design with your pencil, and it will be the exact reverse once the transfer is completed. For reversible designs you shouldn’t have anything to worry about in terms of accuracy, but otherwise, you have to use your transfer pencil to trace the image onto the opposite side of your transfer paper, and iron the material with the side to be traced face down.

Next you have to lift the pattern from the material which is ready for the project and could be used again.

The final steps would start by cutting a square around the pattern, and during this step it is suggested you use a small piece of paper if you are using the iron to transfer the pattern to the material. Of course, you’ll want to make sure the pattern is face down on the project material – also hold the pattern down tightly with one hand and when ironing, set it to medium heat and use even strokes when ironing the pattern into the material. Next set the iron aside and hold all but one corner of the pattern in place tightly with one hand and you can lift the free corner to check if the design is showing up dark enough. If it isn’t, then you’ll have to repeat the ironing process and keep it consistent so that you’ll have a nice-looking design in the end.
