If you ask anyone younger than the age of thirty what words spring to mind when you say ‘rose quilt ‘ chances are, you’re going to get lots of responses like ‘old ‘ ‘dusty ‘ and ‘uncool ‘. Expect these to come up a lot. While you probably think differently, it appears that plenty of the more youthful generations don’t view these kinds of quilts the way that we do.

So what can we do about this?

Well, you could disagree with them until you are both blue in the face, but that’s not going to influence anyone’s opinion. No, what you’re going to need to do is make a rose quilt that a someone of an earlier generation is going to appreciate.

So I have wrote down a couple of ideas of my own to share with you.

Pixellated Quilt

There are a few who are most likely wondering, what’s ‘pixellated ‘? Pixellation is the effect that is utilized on the news when a suspect is arrested or taken in for questioning. Their face is generally obscured by covering it in multicoloured squares.

This is an effect that harks back to the graphics on PCs around the late 80′s and early 90′s. Many younger people love designs that seem to be pixellated or squared out. Using this on your roses in your pattern will give a design that younger people will surely love!

Cartoon Roses

This is a design that’s excellent for someone of a much earlier age. Take a look at the styles of the cartoon shows that your nephews and young children watch. Most toons have thick outer lines with a single colour filling in the middle and minimal shading.

If you make a rose quilt following the same design styles, hopefully the effect should be the same, giving you cartoon roses and a quilt they're going to like!

So now you can change somebody's opinion of rose duvets by using some new designs and making a quilt they will love for years ahead.
