Knitting Projects For the Beach

Knitting is better
It’s a beautiful summer’s day. But you don’t want to read another murder mystery or love story. Want to do something different while you are at the beach. Pick up your knitting needles and begin working on a small project that you can use now or begin making holiday presents.
Here are a few project ideas.
Use any brand of cotton yarn to knit 6″ x 6″ squares to use as dish cloths. Use them for grab bag gifts for family, friends or co-workers. Make three dishcloths in complimentary colors and bundle them with a bottle of dish washing liquid and a new dish rack. For less than $ 20 and few hours of your time sitting on the beach you would have created a beautiful, one of a kind gift.Remember that red wool coat you brought on the sale rack at the end of the season?
Use your new crafting skills to create a scarf and hat set to wear with that coat.
You’ll feel fabulous and warm wearing a hat and scarf that you created using large knitting needles, size 10 to 13, a fancy yarn and acrylic yarn in complimentary multi-colors like black/red/white or shades of gray and a basic garter stitch, you can create a scarf and hat that you won’t find in any department store, home shopping network or the internet.
What else can you knit on the beach? How about a bikini? Using your cotton or silk yarn you can create a fablous bikini to wear on your next trip to the beach.
Looking for patterns or don’t know anything about knitting. Visit your local craft store. Someone at the store will be able to assist in the purchasing your first set of knitting needles and finding the perfect book of patterns you can use.
No craft store close by. Go online and visit websites like Knitch knitting to get ideas and suggestions for your beach product.
By the time summer is over you will find that knitting needles are you new BFF and better than reading another murder mystery.
Emily is a knitting enthusiast who loves to shop with the friendly people at Knitch for all of her knitting items, especially knitting needles.
