After ‘casting on’ your yarn. This next video will teach you your first stich. Its called the ‘knit stitch’. There are two basic styles of knitting: the continental, and the English method. Its really a matter of preference. Most lefys like to use continental, and rightys English. This video will show you the English method. You will also learn how to ‘bind off’. Binding off is a way to end your knitting so that it doesnt unravel all your work like you see in the cartoons. Because you began with Knit stitch you want to bind of in knit stitch also, unless your pattern calls for it otherwise. **Note: When you start the bind off, you must knit 2 times, then you go back and bind off. Then the next time you only knit once, then bind off. You’ll understand when you watch the video.

Everyone who is giving up.. just keep at it, you wont start out good at it and if you do then good for you lol… but dont give up just keep repeating what your doing learn one stitch at a time and dont try to do fancy stuff at first … and it wont start to look good until you have ten or more rows and youll find you niche and your own way to do it and it gets so easy and actually fun

I can cast like no one’s business, but when it comes to transferring it over to the second stitch, i can’t get it! I can wrap the yarn around the back and between, but pulling the stitch is where everything goes awry… great video though!

Fuck it. I can’t knit even if my life depended on it.
My stitches keep twisting around the needle and/or my rows don’t even look like I was knitting.

There’s a junk gesture that marks the junkie like the limp wrist marks the fag ? the arm springs out from the elbow, stiff fingered, palm up.

I was doing a different cast on techigue leaving me with a gap between needles…. then I found your method. THANK YOU ! No problem now.

@1975ccoleman no, but it does matter in how loose you want the loops, the bigger/wider the needle the loopy it will be , say for a net or mesh. if you use slimmer needle then tighter it would be , and would be used for socks.

I realise this video is almost three years old, but thanks so much! I’m 25, and have never knit a day in my life, but I want to start so I can add a more diverse product range to my etsy store. This video, is great, most of the others are simply video tutorials and have no dialog. I’m more of a visual learner, but I need to listen as I watch or else I can’t absorb the information properly. Thanks so much!
