Pretty Flower Slippers

 This is a fairly easy pattern for slippers.  The flowers are a little more difficult (intermediate) but the slippers also look great without them.  Why not make some for presents for friends, they will love them

 Measurements

To fit foot (approx) 25cms/10 ins

 Yarn

1 x 50g ball 1st colour (C1) 8 ply

1 x 50g ball 2nd colour (C2) 8 ply

 Needles

A pair 4.50mm (US 7) (UK7) knitting needles or size that gives correct tension/gauge

 Materials

A Yarn needle

 Tension Gauge

16sts and 28 rows to 10cm/4 ins over stocking sgt. Using correct size knitting needles and C2

 Abbreviations

St/s stitch/es, K- knit, P – purl, RS – rightr side, WS – wrong side, stocking st – 1 row K 1 row purl, beg – beginning, Inc – increase, rep – repeat, K2tog – knit 2 sts together, rem – remaining, cont – continue

 Slipper Sole (make 2, beg at heel)

Using 4.50mm (US 7)(UK 7) needles and C2 cast on 8 sts

** 1st row – Inc in first st, knit to last st, inc in last st.

2nd row – purl

Rep last 2 rows until there are 16sts, ending with a 2nd row **

Cont. in stocking st without shaping until sole measures 21cms/8½ ins from  beg, ending with a purl row

*** Next Row – K2tog, knit to last 2 sts, K2tog

Next Row – Purl

Rep last 2 rows until 8 sts rem

Next row – Purl – Cast/bind off rem sts leaving a long end for finishing ***

 Slipper Upper (make 2, beg at heel)

Using 4.50mm (US 7)(UK 7) needles and C1 cast on 8 sts

Work as for slipper sole from ** to **

Cont in stocking st without shaping until slipper upper measures 5 cms/2 ins from beg, ending with a purl row

Divide for opening – Next row – K6, cast/bind off 4 sts K6

Cont on last 6 sts until opening measures 10cms/4 ins ending with a purl row

Leave sts on needle – Break off yarn

With WS facing, join C1 to rem 6 sts and purl to end

Cont in stocking st on these 6 sts until opening measure 10cms/4 ins ending with a purl row

Next Row- (RS) – K6, turn, cast on 4 sts, turn K6 = 16 sts

Cont in stocking st (beg with a purl row) until slipper upper measures 23 cms/9 ins from beg. Ending with a purl row.

Work from *** to *** of Slipper Sole

 Small flowers (make 4)

Using 4.50mm (US 7)(UK 7) needles and C1 cast on 4 sts

1st row – * Cast/bind off 3 sts (one st rem on needle), turn, cast on 3 sts (4sts on needle), rep from * 4 more times + 5 petals made

Fasten off leaving a long end.  Use end to edge that joins petals together to form flower.

Large flowers (make 4)

Using 4.50mm (US 7)(UK 7) needles and C2 cast on 50 sts

1st row – * K1, cast/bind off 8 sts , rep from * to end = 10 sts

Break off yarn leaving a long end.  Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

 FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS – Using yarn needle, darn in ends. Using yarn needle and mattress st seam sew slipper upper to slipper sole.  Place a small flower on top of a large flower and sew through both flowers securely at center.  Using 2 strands of C2 together embroider a large French knot in center of flower.  Work other flowers in same manner having 4 flowers in total (2 flowers for each slipper).
