@creamsodaistasty It’s a little different than that, but that is a great analogy! I’m going to remember that one.

@alabusoap That’s good to know! I guess it’s kinda like when you cook with wine and the alcohol is cooked out by the end.

@devonmale69 It’s true natural doesn’t always mean good. Snake venom is natural. However sodium hydroxide is a necessary part of soap making, and there is none left in the final bar. Our soap is extremely mild and we have customers that can’t even use most sensitive skin products, but use our soap with good results.

@creamsodaistasty It’s true that no lye remains in the final bar (if made properly). It is consumed in the reaction with the oils you see in the video.

@hottiefix07 Lye used to be made from wood ash. Modern lye is made through something called the chlroalkali process. It’s an electrical process that uses salt water to get sodium hydroxide (lye).

I love the goats waiting!!! I can hardly wait for the opportunity to make my own goat’s milk soap – just a few more months and we can get some stock. Thank you for sharing this lovely video.

I love how you push the soap out without sticking. I use oval PVC molds as well and sticking is a real issue! I love the cutter too!

@mokienatrix Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), also known as lye and caustic soda, is a caustic metallic base. It is used in many industries, mostly as a strong chemical base in the manufacture of pulp and paper, textiles, drinking water, soaps and detergents and as a drain cleaner. .. Natural dose not mean good just think digitalis plant may contain several deadly physiological and chemically related cardiac and steroidal glycosides

@devonmale69 We don’t let the dog or any animals in the manufacturing area. We had to shuffle some things around to make a nice background for the video, the dog slipped through a door and was quickly removed from the area.
