Tips for Painting a Kitchen Table

31st May 2011

When you enter a kitchen it is fairly common that the focal point is going to be the kitchen table. As a result you are going to want to try to ensure that the appearance of the table is done in such a way that you are happy to see it.

Even if your table doesn’t look all that nice on its own, you can paint it and give it an entirely different look. You can choose to hire someone to do this but if you want to save some money you can make it your own project and do it yourself.

When you do something like this by yourself it will feel much better when it is done because you can take pride in having done it on your own. This is always a nicer feeling then just giving someone some money to do it for you.

Prior to actually painting there are some precautionary measures that you will have to take in order to get it to the point where it can be painted. For old tables, you might have to break out the sand paper and get to work.

It can help to sand it twice but make sure to wipe it down with a cloth in between each procedure. After the second time that you sand, it should be ready for a good primer.

The purpose of the primer is to prepare the table for a good painting so it is important to be sure that it is put on in the right way. After this you can go onto the job of actually painting the table.

But first you should pick out a paint that you want to apply to the table. When making the selection you should try to find a color and a tone that will really blend in with the room to give it that comfortable feeling that you are going for.

You may also want to use some spray paint to try out a much different look than the standard paint brush feeling. While it is often an easier process it doesn’t always provide that same type of appeal that a real painting does.

It is important to remember that the chairs will need to be treated as well so that the overall kitchen appearance will fit together. If you follow these instructions, painting the table should be easy and you can feel good around your newly painted table.

Peter knows a great deal about painting kitchen tables but he also writes a lot about Stainless Steel Tables and also Teak Tables.
