Welcome
craft
Welcome to craft and Supplies. craft is the hobby of thousands of women all over the world and has its own universal language. I have been involved in all kinds of crafts for many years. This site is to show you what can be done and how. We will also be asking for your contributions of both, photos of your latest achievement and/or knitting and crochet patterns, ideas about scrapbooking, crossstitch etc. If all our knowledge is shared, we can all benefit.
Don’t worry if you have never ventured into this area as we are here to help you with your craft projects and for the beginners give you some easy patterns to start with. Once completed you will have self satisfaction of “I did that” and don’t forget they make wonderful presents for family and friends. On our pattern page which we will be updating regularly, we will be including some quick and easy knits for beginners. Please feel free to copy the patterns and when completed if you have no use for them you will find many charities that will gladly accept them. Just ring your local charity for details.
Learning to crochet is an exciting craft to master. Using only a hook and wool or thread succesfully can create great masterpieces. Once mastered, patterns are easy to come by, everything from gloves to caps, fancy foot wear to scarves, doilies, baby clothes and head gears to cushions and balaclavas, the list is never ending?
Beginners should start with the basics and then move on to more decorative work. Beginning with an easy type of single colored square patch and gradually add colors, as you go on you can add different patterns and shapes. Once achieved these can be crocheted together to make a blanket or cushion cover (very nice presents). A simple how to crochet tutorial is on the pattern page.
If you’re a brand new knitter, wondering where to start, is sometimes overwhelming. A simple knit square is the perfect first project on the pattern page. You’ll learn how to cast on, knit, bind off and weave in ends, and when you’re done you can use the square as a coaster, even if it doesn’t look perfect. This a good base for learning and will encourage you to continue to make everything from jumpers, socks, scarves (the in thing this year) and is not only a wonderful hobby but also very cost effective as whilst you are learning, cheaper wools can be purchased from department stores.
We also have a selection of supplies and a book store to help you with your craft hobby.
